Assignment 21A- Reading Again

Assignment 21A- Reading Reflection Number 2
-       I have chosen to read Innovation and Entrepreneurship by Peter Drucker
1.     What was the general theme or argument of the book?
-       The overall argument or theme of this book is a different approach to analyzing the many opportunities and difficulties of the American market. The book speaks on how to tackle the many troubles and challenges that come with trying to create a business in our nation. The book says that through innovation and entrepreneurship, as the title implies, anyone can truly succeed and create a thriving business and life for the people behind them.
2.     How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT3003?
-       The book really connects with the lecture material from the class in a lot of different ways. First, as the title implies the book is all about using innovation and entrepreneur skills which we learn in this class to tackle the American market. The book read as though it was a supplement to the class kind of highlighting and going more in depth on things we had already talked about. The book does dive deeper into the thought processes behind true innovation and how you can work around your failures and process changes to truly succeed. I will say the book was a bit harder to read just because it did come across more like an outdated textbook than it did a novel.
3.     If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
-       If I was to design one, I would base it off of the major theme of the book which was all about the seven stages or places where entrepreneurship happens. The assignment would be to find examples in everyday life of companies or people who have gone through these stages and how they made it out.
4.     What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?

-       The biggest surprise of the book to me was how long some entrepreneurs take to really thrive. When you read about successful famous people it is always super-fast rags to riches stories however this book points how long it can really take for someone to make it big.

  1. 1.) Overall your post is very good. I think it is easy to follow between the questions answered and the format altogether.
2.) Specifically I like how the answer to your questions were specific and you didn't go off track from the question that tends to happen often. From you answers, it shows clear evidence you were involved with the book.
3.) The post was nice and accurate, I wouldn't change anything.

  2. Hey CJ, I really like how you pieced this assignment together. Your formatting makes it easy to follow. It's interesting on how much you can fail as an entrepreneur and eventually have that one big success that over shadows the rest and you still be termed as successful. Although I didn't choose this book because it did seem a bit like a textbook i am glad to see your review on it.
