Assignment 14A- Halfway Reflection

Assignment 14A- Halfway Reflection
1.     Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used or developed to keep up with the requirements of this course?
a.     While taking this class I have also been working as a camp counselor at Camp Boggy Creek which is a camp for children with illnesses. Therefore, throughout the course I have had to use a ton of time management skills, I have had to work on assignments days in advance because of how my camp schedule lines up. It is super difficult honestly because I have had to make sure that I am not focusing too much energy on this class when I am in session but really focusing on this class when I am out of session. This also becomes a lot harder when I am required to add interviews into my assignments just because they all either have to be over phone or skype, or I have to find people who fit into the segment here at camp.
2.     Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
a.     I honestly was thinking about giving up all day today just because I am currently in session and have only started one of the three assignments (the one with the interviews). Therefore, I am currently speed typing this assignment during the camper’s rest hour so that I am able to finish. I am pulled through just by the fact that this class positively affects my future, but the main motivation is that at camp I have the chance to change so many lives. Through camp I am able to give joy and relief to so many children who are struggling in their daily lives to fit in or are stuck at hospitals for hours. I think working at camp and taking four classes has for sure allowed me to be more tenacious. I work every day seven to nine-thirty with kids, and then I come to the study to do all of my work. Therefore, I have for sure developed a tenacious attitude which helps me pull through everything.
3.     Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset?
a.     First you need to develop a mindset that anything is possible. Without thinking that you have the ability to push through anything you cannot succeed. Half of the battle is just thinking that you have the skills to complete anything.
b.     Second you need to develop good time management skills. The issue with classes is that sometimes you assume you can do anything the night of. However, in college and in the professional world that is not correct, so you need to develop good time management skills and be able to schedule everything you need to do. If you develop time management then you can plan your own path for success.

c.     Third use this class and other classes as a way to start networking and making connections. Throughout my time at UF I have been blessed to have a lot of friends in my classes or friends who had recently taken the classes so they could help me with assignments. But having friends in a class allows you a second reminder to get everything done!

Comments

  1. 1.) Overall you post is very good. I like how in depth you are and how you answered the questions thoroughly even when you're in a rush.
2.) Specifically I like what you're doing while still keeping up with the class. I think it is very impressive you are maintaining both jobs right now as a counselor and a student. I also emphasize the time management because everyone is busy and this class helps us organize our time in between our busy lives.
3.) Since you cant really be wrong in any part of this assignment, I dont have anything negative to say. I guess the one thing I noticed is you copied and paste the questions and the font didn't match up.
